With President Marie-José Susskind-Jalou, the Editions Jalou formed a press group on a very human scale. The group is controlled 100% by one family, the Jalous.
In the 60s upon the death of the founder Max Bruhnes, Georges Jalou, then Art director, bought his first shares (25%). Twenty-five years later, following the death of his associate Marcel Peres he acquired all the shares. His three children all worked for the company. Marie-José, Laurent and Maxime bought into the company.
Laurent handled finances and advertising. Marie-José, the creative sister, directed the editors. Maxime was Art Director and had final say on the layout.
When Laurent suddenly died in January 2003, his sister Marie-José accepted the challenge. She took over the management of the group, becoming President.
Today, the third generation is coming on board. Marie-José’s children, having grown up in the magazine world, joined the group one by one. Vanessa Bellugeon, her eldest daughter, graduate of the Parson School in New York directs fashion for L’Officiel. Ronald Bellugeon is in charge of L’Officiel 1000 Modèles. Jennifer Emeyre, a designer, works freelance for Jalouse and L’Officiel. Benjamin Emeyre, a lawyer on the Paris Bar Association and soon to be a member of the New York Bar Association, is preparing to be the company counselor.
